SHEILA PEAK-

I was raised in a religious family. Doing all the things religious children do, I had many questions that were left unanswered. I left the Church before I turned 20, feeling like I didn’t belong.

I attended several churches throughout my adult life, always looking for where I might be connected with God. When Overflow Church first opened their doors, I was there with my family hoping to find what I had been looking for in a church. From the moment I walked through those doors, I felt something inside me I hadn’t experienced anywhere else: the overwhelming power of love and inspiration for Jesus and people of the community.

We continue to attend Overflow to this very day, but it wasn’t until I was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer in 2015, that I actually felt the presence of God in my life.

I had been diagnosed with a very rare type of cancer and it was Stage 4, which means it had spread. It was all through my neck, the right side of my face and even around my brain and spinal cord. The doctors couldn’t really give me any hope that I could even survive.

I felt scared and alone. I wasn’t ready to give up my life here on Earth. I became angry that God would give me such an obstacle to overcome. What I didn’t know, was that this was how God planned on changing my life!

With the encouragement of my Overflow Church family, I began reading spiritual books and also, the Bible on a daily basis. I needed to keep my faith and not give up! I realized I couldn’t go through this on my own. I needed Jesus to walk with me.

I prayed all the time and God became a priority in my life. I no longer was scared or filled with hatred. I was finally at peace and ready to be in God’s kingdom. I handed over my life to Him and He saved it!

After a very long and extensive surgery and months of radiation, my cancer was all gone! I had been completely healed!

My life is now, filled with God’s grace and love. I continue to read God’s word daily and my life has been touched by Jesus’ healing powers.
